Molly Moore, Ph.D.
Licensed Psychologist in Texas
Hi, I’m Molly. I’m a plant person, a lover of books and Bravo, and I feel my most authentic self when hiking in Colorado with my partner. I used to be extremely Type-A, but I realized that what I thought was being Type-A was actually anxiety. I now consider myself Type-B with Type-A tendencies -- I want to “go with the flow” but having a plan makes me feel calm. I love Post-it notes and use them more than my planner. Additionally, I consider myself extroverted but have found that some quiet time (as much as I can get with a toddler) leaves me feeling restored.
My clients are high-achieving, anxious women. On the outside, they appear calm and confident. But internally, anxiety is running the show. Despite their degrees and credentials (M.D., Ph.D., J.D., MBA), their imposter syndrome is through the roof and they are their own worst criticwhen they make a mistake. Work-life balance seems like a myth, and self-care is at the bottom of a very long to-do list. They oscillate between constantly being on the go and overwhelmed, to shutting down and feeling burned out. I love working with these women because they are ambitious, insightful, and motivated.
On a personal note,I get it because I’ve been there. Racing thoughts used to keep me up at night. Self-doubt and imposter syndrome overwhelmed me in my 20s, and burnout used to be my natural state. I felt guilty whenever I tried to “relax” and would think to myself, “If I could only be better at time management, I wouldn’t feel this way.” Through my own therapy, I found my own way out. I would love to help you find your way out, too.

My Approach to Anxiety Therapy in Austin, Texas
I’m not a blank slate therapist. I’m pretty active in session and you won’t have to guess what I’m thinking because my face will likely show it. You can expect me to be direct, with a touch of humor. Because I personally and professionally know what it takes to manage burnout and self-doubt, I’m able to be in the trenches with you. However, I won’t work harder than you. I can’t do the work for you but I know you can do it because you are already used to working hard. In therapy with me, you do not have to “perform” or “get it right.” All parts of you are welcome, not just the driven and successful parts of you.
Therapy with me is going beyond coping skills. You likely already know about coping skills and have tried them with varying success. With me, we will work to get to the root of your anxiety and self-doubt so you can find lasting change and move from a state of survival to thriving. I’ve worked with so many clients like you and I know You can do hard things!
Why Work with Me
I have an extensive background working with high-achieving women. From graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees, law school, and medical school to working moms juggling the demands of motherhood and their career,I help women who feel exhausted and doubt themselves despite their success. I know the unique experiences of being a career-driven woman in a society that demands more of you and reinforces overcommitment. I get it.
Before private practice, my career was in higher education working at several universities across the Southeast and Midwest. I have co-led therapy groups for graduate students and most of my clients have been women pursuing advanced degrees. The extrovert part of me loves giving large-scale presentations on managing burnout and coping with stress. In addition to providing therapy, I have a background in wellness and bring this into my work with my clients by examining how you are doing in all areas of your life, not just work.
